Your terminal.
Only smarter.
A full SSH terminal for iPhone, iPad and Mac, with an Apple Intelligence assistant that runs on your device and workspaces for the AI coding agents already on your server.1
Apple Intelligence
Ask in plain English. Watch it work.
Say "update this server" or "why won't nginx start?" and the assistant works through the task one command at a time, reading each result before choosing the next step.
Ask
"update this server" or "why won't nginx start?" in the same bar you type commands into.
It works the task
One command at a time, reading each result before choosing the next step.
You stay in control
Read-only commands run straight away. Anything that changes the server waits for Run, Skip or Stop.
on-device. Uses Apple's own model.
The assistant is free. No account, no API key.
bytes the assistant sends to a cloud AI.
to approve anything that changes the server.
Runs entirely on your device
Uses Apple's on-device model. No cloud AI, no account and no API key.
The app decides what can run, not the AI
Read-only commands run straight away. Anything that changes the server waits for you to tap Run, Skip or Stop. Commands that never finish or need interaction are blocked.
Knows the machine it's on
Detects the Linux distro, macOS or Windows, the package manager, sudo, Docker, and platforms such as Coolify, Synology and Home Assistant OS before suggesting anything.
Handles sudo the safe way
When a command fails for lack of permission, it notices and offers to retry with sudo. The password is kept only for that task and is never saved or shown to the AI.
Built-in answers for
Detects before it suggests
And there's more.
Workspaces for AI coding agents
The agents on your server get a real workspace.2
CodeShell finds the coding agents already installed on your server. Pick a model, pick a project folder, and chat, with every tool call and file diff in view.

Extra keys on iPhone and iPad
Esc, Tab, Ctrl, arrow keys and common symbols sit right above the keyboard.
One command bar

Clickable links
Even ones that wrap across lines.
Your keyboard, your choice
Works with third-party keyboards such as SwiftKey and Gboard.
Connections and security
Your keys stay in the Keychain.
Sign in the way you already do, and let the app check that every server is the one you expect.
Password, key, or both
Sign in with a password, a key, or a key with password fallback.
Every common key type
Ed25519, RSA and ECDSA keys (P-256, P-384, P-521), including passphrase-protected keys. Paste a key or import it from a file.
Host keys checked every time
The host key is checked on every connection. A changed key is refused, and you can view the fingerprint.
Keychain storage
Passwords and keys are kept in the Apple Keychain, encrypted by your device, and sync through iCloud Keychain.
Clear help when a server is unreachable
If a server is asleep, the address is wrong or its IP has changed, you get a plain message with Try Again and Edit Connection, not a technical error.
Groups, favorites and search
Keep a long list of servers tidy, with automatic logos for macOS, Ubuntu, Debian, Raspberry Pi, Windows, FreeBSD, AWS and Google Cloud.
Everywhere
Start on the Mac. Finish on the phone.
Apps for iPhone, iPad and Mac. Connections sync through your iCloud, and tasks keep going when you leave the app. With Pro, persistent sessions let you continue on another device.
Tasks keep running
Longer assistant and agent tasks keep running in the background. On iPhone and iPad a Live Activity says when they finish or need attention, and you get a notification on Mac too.
Tabs on the Mac
Each connected machine gets a tab in the title bar. Switch with ⌘1–9, and open the dashboard, sessions and snippets in a side panel. Links open with a click.
Swipe on iPhone
Swipe between connected machines.
iCloud sync
Connections and settings sync through your own iCloud account, and passwords and keys through iCloud Keychain. Pro adds snippet sync. Nothing passes through us.
Pro
Sessions that survive. Servers at a glance.
Pro adds the pieces you need when servers are your day job.
Persistent sessions
Your shell runs inside tmux on the server, so sessions stay alive through disconnects and you can continue them on another device. CodeShell installs tmux on the server if needed. Includes a session manager, a view of sessions across all your servers, and Detach, Kill and Join controls.
Server dashboard
Live CPU, RAM, GPU and disk, plus load, network and the top 10 processes, refreshing every 5, 10 or 30 seconds. Works for Linux and macOS servers.
Snippet sync
Your saved snippets sync to all your devices through iCloud.
Unlimited workspaces2
Work with Claude Code, Codex, opencode and Antigravity on your own servers, with no message limit. Free includes 5 messages to try it.
